Designated person/s for Child Safety (DPCS)

Our Role

As Designated Persons for Child Safety (DPCS), we form the fellowship’s child Safety Team. Our primary focus is the safety and wellbeing of children and young people within our fellowship.

Part of our role is to receive and respond to any child safety concerns, whether they relate to current or historical matters. Our focus is on supporting safety in the present and doing all we can to help prevent harm in the future.

To avoid possible confusion around our role, we are not counsellors or investigators. We do care and want to understand your situation. We can help people connect with support where required and will ensure the right people and services are involved. We will engage external investigators and specialists in child protection where those skills are required.

This is the first time our fellowship in New Zealand has had a team working in this capacity. We are committed to engaging with everyone in a respectful, caring and sensitive way. We appreciate your support and understanding. We would prefer to be contacted initially by email. Any information shared with us will be treated seriously, handled with confidentiality and used only to help protect and prevent harm to children.
